Physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy allow our patients to develop and improve their abilities and independence in the comfort of their own home. Furthermore, at home therapy also allows family members and loved ones to be involved in the rehabilitation process.
At home therapy from Presidente Home Care plays an important role in helping an individual regain their productivity. Our highly qualified therapists are a crucial part of our health care team.
Physical Therapy helps individuals regain physical strength, motion and ability. Patients who may benefit from Home Physical Therapy include people who have been sick or ill for a length of time and have lost a degree of their strength and mobility (The ability to stand and balance).
Speech Therapy helps to improve speaking skills, breathing, and swallowing functions. Speech therapy is used in the home to treat patients who may have had a stroke or a sudden loss of the ability to speak. Such symptoms may include slurred speech and a change in voice or difficulty swallowing of unusual choking or coughing while eating.
Occupational Therapy helps individuals regain day to day skills such as dressing, feeding, and benefiting from a daily routine. Occupational Therapy focuses on the upper extremities (arms and hands) to improve the person’s ability to perform activities such as buttoning and fastening clothing, writing handling utensils for eating and drinking. These are known as activities of daily living. Occupational Therapy may also be ordered in preparation to return to work after surgeries such as Carpel Tunnel release and surgeries of the hands, arms and shoulders.
Individuals who have been hospitalized or had surgical procedures and need bed rest may also be eligible for post operative or post hospital physical therapy
Individuals who may have had a stroke or sudden weakness of the arms or legs
Individuals who have recently lost their ability to speak
