These Ulcers may appear any appear anywhere on the body. The wounds are commonly, pale and dry and may also have a dark crust or scab cover. Most commonly the are found under the feet and toes and over the boney areas of the feet and lower legs. These ulcers go along with diabetes and neuropathy (numbness or tingling of the feet) Please see your doctor as soon as possible for evaluation and treatment.
These ulcers appear usually in the areas of the lower legs. These wounds are the result of poor arterial circulation The skin around the lower legs and the ulcers may be dry and lack color. The areas of the skin around the lower legs may be discolored as red of pale and in severe situations may be bluish (Cyanosis) and may also appear in purple blotches. This may be a life threatening condition and require medical evaluation and treatment.
Venous Stasis wounds are found in people who have a condition known as venous insufficiency, also known as bad or poor circulation. This happens when the blood that is circulating from there feet and lower legs backs up and pool around the lower legs and ankles. Some of the characteristics of venous insufficiency include painful swelling around the lower legs and ankles, there may be redness and discoloration around the legs. There may be numbness or tingling in the area. The extreme swelling may lead to the breakdown in the skin and lead to ulcers that may leak clear fluids or these ulcers may appear as blisters. If any of these symptoms appear in any combination appear, please see your doctor as soon as possible of evaluation and treatment.
